Project Overview
Location: Mandalay Region, Myanmar (Off-grid Industrial Zone & Remote Community)
System Type: Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Solar + Storage Microgrid
Capacity: 829.6kW Solar Array | 500kW / 1125kWh Energy Storage System (ESS)
Core Equipment: 5 x Zenbatt 100kW/225kWh All-in-One Solar & Storage Outdoor Cabinets (Liquid-cooled/Air-cooled), 7 x 120kW High-Efficiency MPPT Controllers.
The Challenge
In many regions of Myanmar, the aging grid infrastructure leads to frequent power outages and voltage instability, which severely disrupts local industrial production and daily life. The project site, located in an area with high solar irradiance but poor grid reliability, required a robust energy solution that could operate seamlessly in both on-grid and off-grid (island) modes to ensure 24/7 power availability while reducing reliance on expensive diesel generators.
Zenbatt Solution
Zenbatt designed a comprehensive Microgrid Energy Storage System tailored for harsh environmental conditions and complex load requirements.
1. High-Efficiency Power Conversion: We deployed 7 units of 120kW MPPT solar controllers to maximize the energy harvest from the 829.6kW photovoltaic array. This configuration ensures that even during peak sunlight, the system efficiently converts solar energy for immediate consumption and battery charging.
2. All-in-One Integration: The heart of the project consists of 5 units of Zenbatt’s 100kW/225kWh All-in-One Cabinets. Each cabinet integrates the Battery Management System (BMS), Power Conversion System (PCS), and fire suppression system into a compact, outdoor-rated enclosure. This modular design significantly reduced on-site installation time and labor costs.
3. Seamless On/Off-Grid Switching: Equipped with advanced grid-forming technology, the Zenbatt system provides a “black start” capability. When the main grid fails, the system transitions to off-grid mode in milliseconds, providing a stable frequency and voltage reference for the microgrid, ensuring zero downtime for critical loads.
Technical Highlights & Results
- Energy Independence: The system offsets over 85% of the facility’s traditional grid dependence and reduces diesel fuel consumption by approximately 240,000 liters annually.
- Carbon Reduction: Estimated annual CO2 emission reduction of over 600 tons, supporting Myanmar’s transition toward green energy.
- Smart Energy Management: Integrated with Zenbatt’s Cloud EMS (Energy Management System), allowing operators to monitor real-time power flow, battery health (SOH), and system efficiency remotely via mobile or desktop.
- Extreme Durability: The Zenbatt cabinets are designed with an IP55/IP65 rating to withstand high humidity and dust levels common in the Mandalay region.
